Asia won, next is World to win..!

It took 15 years for Indian Cricket Team to claim the Asia Cup again. The last time we celebrated the Asia Cup win was way back in 1995 at Sharjah. Since then, India lost to Sri Lanka on last 3 occasions when the team reached the finals ie.- 1998, 2004, 2008. But Asia Cup 2010 is thankfully exception to the poor record of the team in the finals. This can be regarded as the most significant victory after India beat Australia in their own yard.

As seen in the above diagram err.. photo, (Engineering effect my friends, diagram??? huh..!), Indian Team played like a single unit. Though there was no single hero of the match but everyone played his own part more or less, in the end, it was bowling, for me, this time, which sailed India to the famous victory. Nehra, bowled exceptionally well today, was well supported by experienced Zahir and P Kumar. Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik is very handy batsman- a very sensible- shown by recent performances! Also, he keeps the wickets, fields well. He is my pick for the WC- 2011 squad.

The Yungisthan trio- namely, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma are the future of Indian Cricket. It almost seems that Raina has cemented his place in playing 11 but the selectors should give more chances to the other 2 players. This trio can be compared with the legends of Sachin, Sourav, Rahul. I know, I am making a very brave statement, but that's my reading..! Sachin=> Raina, Rahul=> Rohit, Sourav=> Virat if we consider their playing styles and behaviors!

Well, while the team created a history, did you miss likes of Sachin Tendulkar (now, Group Captain of IAF), Virendra Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma, Piyush Chawla, Pragyaan Oza etc...? Where are these people? Of course on the bench! This surely makes the Indian Cricket Fans feel-good. And here comes the title song, Asia won, next is World to win..! The world cup is just one year away and when one reads the bench strength, it surely is the encouraging sign for everyone.

On this very positive note, let me stop for the moment...! But, watch-out this space for more interesting topics. Your feedback, comments, sharing, LIKEs, FOLLOWings are going to encourage us! Finally, Congratulations to the Team India- the Men in Blue, you did it!

  1. Ya!!!!!!!!!!!!! won the asia cup but still more improvements needed. specially middle order batsmen has to work hard to show their character & convert their short innings into matchwinning ones. Bowlers should also show a bit consistency. All the bowlers have been in & out of the squad because of their erratic performance the kind of indian bowling effort that we watched in the final was just like a dream. If our will able to produce bowling of that level surely the world cup is ours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
