Raina played the winning knock against the South Africa (SA). But it wasn't all easy in the start as it may look in the score card! Raina came almost in first over. The pitch was bouncy. The ball was new- hard. It was swinging. Dale Steyn was bowling in the very good areas and so were the others and hence they had already picked up Murli Vijay.
But then, Raina first saw few overs. He was patient for that period when small mistakes could have caused his wicket and poor start for India.

Meanwhile, he got away with a no-ball on which he was caught at mid-wicket. Importantly, he capitalized on it and made sure that SA pays and pays heavy on it. He is such a confidant player that he hit a six to complete his maiden century in T20 format. His century is also the first century of an Indian in this format of international cricket. Now, that's an achievement! His 101 came from just 60 balls with superbly timed 9 fours and good handsome 5 sixes. Though he maintained a massive Strike Rate of 168.33, those were the last 38 balls that he faced, counted for 82 runs..! Which alternatively means, he scored first 19 runs from 22 balls. This shows the temperament of Raina. Also, point to be noted is T20 is not just see-and-hit game.
India is the first team to be qualified for Super 8. (No rocket science, they played and won two qualifying matches earlier than others!) The performance in both the matches, especially, in the match versus SA was clinical. India has started good by beating SA. Afghanistan did not surprise India, so no X-factors to fear for! T20 is all about the momentum a team carries and India now, is on winning momentum. Now, Men In Blue need to carry this forward. Will they?

we are winning this world cup :D it doesn't inspire much interest or sense of an achievement though.
ReplyDeleteno one would give a damn if a world cup happens twice in 12 months like this one, and we win it.
Although INDIA having tough luck on super-8
ReplyDeleteas "SL,WI,AUS" MAY THRASH GAME AT ANY TIME KEEP FAITH ON DHONI'S LUCK!
What had earlier done by DRAVID & today TENDULKAR in ODI's! is INDIA'S now-adays need @ T-20: one man can do it by his experience(since 2002-10) is "Yuvi". Just look out what Team INDIA needs, from him(?), a "STAND-BY" inningS! Few big hitters ,IN TEAM, gives Yuvi another 'ROLE'. Try to do it! surely India will be at new edges......(?)
