It took to the last league match for the IPL fans to know who's gonna make it to the semifinals. Though MI was comfortably into the semifinals & KKR never looked like getting in, the remaining 3 seats for semis were really battled for. Finally, those were MI, DC, CSK & RCB who made it to the knock-out round.
The last two matches between CSK vs Kings XI Punjab and DD vs DC were the deciding games as to who will make it to the best four teams.
The first match saw the heroics of Captain Cool MS Dhoni. He finished the game for CSK and I was fortunate to see
the last two overs in which he changed the points table of IPL-3. He made 29 runs in 2 overs- in fact 10 balls. He
also made last 16 runs (18 to be more precise) in just 4 balls from Irphan Pathan's over. 4 2 6 6 & win was the last over's description. Generally, MS does not show his emotions but he was really pumped up after this win. By this poor performance of Irphan, in front of his national team's captain, he must have got the answer why he is not in playing 11 in ODIs & T-20s. But again, all credit goes to CSK batters, & not to forget- batting from Raina & Badrinath at crucial time.
In the other game, DC bowlers proved the fact that IPL or T-20 is not only about the batsmen having dominance. They had a very moderate target of around 150 runs to defend against the power house batting line up of DD. DD had the likes of Sehwag, Warner, Gambhir, Colligwood, Dilshan. The small total indeed could be chased under any circumstances. But Delhi underperformed when it mattered the most. And again, full marks to DC as they have won consistently last 5 matches to make their way to the Semis. They bowled & fielded exceptionally well in the last game.
It will be interesting to see who will make it to the finals of DLF IPL- 3. Keep your fingers crossed & pray for your team...
